Birdman Launches 16,600 ‘Last Trick’ NFTs

The professional skateboarder Tony Hawk is considered one of the best in the world, and invented many different tricks in his youth, continuing to amaze audiences into his elder years. Hawk, also nicknamed Birdman, was one of the first professional skaters to complete the 900 (a 2½-revolution or 900-degree spin) at X Games V in 1999. It took ten attempts for Hawk to complete the skateboard trick and since then a few others have landed the 900-degree spin as well. Tony Hawk’s public drop for his “Last Trick” NFT collection begins today at 5 p.m. EST. The collection features 16,600 digital collectibles showcasing Hawk’s signature moves like the “Varial 5,” “Gymnast Plant,” “Magic Dance,” “Front Side Cab,” and “Finger Flip.”

Hawk is also a fan of bitcoin (BTC) and claims he purchased the crypto asset in 2012 after reading about the Silk Road marketplace. The skateboarder and entrepreneur is also into NFTs and recently offered up his first NFT collection via the Tom Brady-created Autograph NFT marketplace. The Preseason Access collection featuring Hawk sold out in minutes and to commemorate his career he selected five signature skateboard tricks and turned them into animated NFTs.

“After seeing how quickly my Preseason Access collection sold out, I was inspired to do something bigger and more personal with my latest assortment of NFTs,” Hawk said in a statement. “For The Tony Hawk ‘Last Trick’ collection with Autograph, I selected five of my signature tricks to retire and reinterpreted them in animated NFTs that will last forever.” Hawk’s NFTs to Showcase His Signature Varial 5, Gymnast Plant, Magic Dance, Front Side Cab, and Finger Flip

Hawk’s latest NFT tricks will include the “Varial 5,” “Gymnast Plant,” “Magic Dance,” “Front Side Cab,” and “Finger Flip.” The collection had an early access deadline lasting from December 14 until December 16. Today, at 5 p.m. EST, Autograph’s Tony Hawk “Last Trick” collection will start its public drop. The official NFT reveal date will be on December 21, 2021, and the early access period was set aside for owners of the Tony Hawk “Preseason Access Pass.”

According to the website, the tricks have been minted into 16,600 digital collectibles and each NFT has a specific tier of rarity. The rarity tiers in the “Last Trick” NFT collection are called carbon, platinum, emerald, sapphire, and ruby. Some are dubbed “Immortal Statue,” and some of the NFT collectibles have a “mystery container” tethered to the NFT as well.

“It’s humbling to see how these tricks are taking on new life in the digital era even after I’ve performed my last ones,” Hawk concluded. “It allows fans the opportunity to experience them once again in a new way.” Tags in this story 2½-revolution spin, 900, 900-degree spin, Autograph, Autograph NFT drop, Autograph NFT Market, Birdman, Finger Flip, Front Side Cab, Gymnast Plant, Last Trick, Last Trick Collection, Magic Dance, nft, NFT collection, NFTs, Non-fungible Token, professional skateboarder, Skateboard Tricks, Skateboarding, Tom Brady, Tom Brady Autograph, Tony Hawk, Tricks, Varial 5
